 Hi!
My name is Marlys and I'm the artist behind the bears on
this website!
I am
married to Allyn and we live in the Southern California
desert near Palm Springs. We live with three Scottish
Terriers that are spoiled rotten and have trained us
quite nicely to attend to their every need. We also have
two adult children.
In 2002, I signed
up for a bear making class at the sewing machine
dealership. That’s all it took for me to become hooked on
bear-making. Even though that first bear had a lopsided
nose and a crooked smile, I thought she was beautiful. I
initially used commercial patterns, but after a while, I
decided to try my hand at original design. Most of
these early bears were given as gifts, and the
encouraging comments from the recipients led me to offer
my bears for sale.
I’m constantly working to perfect my skills. I’ve
benefited from the tips and tricks of other bear artists
who are encouraging and supportive of new creative souls
like me. I love seeing the personality come to
life as the bear comes together.
